LegacyAI enables older Macintosh computers, ranging from System 7 to 10.11 (El Capitan), to interact with AI services such as OpenAI's ChatGPT.
LegacyAI allows users to communicate with ChatGPT, generate DALL-E images, save and load conversations, and customize AI models on Mac systems.
It requires a Macintosh computer running Mac OS 7 - 10.11 with a Motorola 68020 CPU or better, at least 2MB of RAM, and 654KB of disk space.
Users can use their own proxy server to enhance the customization of their experience with LegacyAI.
While LegacyAI is free to use, API access is reliant on donations to cover running costs.
LegacyAI for Mac OS 7-9 does not transmit information over HTTPS, so it's advised not to use it for sensitive subjects due to security reasons.
Users can donate to support the project, purchase a license for additional features, or subscribe for ongoing support.
LegacyAI has different versions tailored for different Mac systems: LegacyAI (68k), LegacyAI (PPC), and LegacyAI (Universal Binary).
The Universal Binary version supports both PowerPC and Intel Macs from system 10.0 (Cheetah) to 10.11 (El Capitan).
